Queer States

ART / WRITING / NEW QUEERIONS

Jordan A. Rothacker, Jared Pappas-KelleyForthcoming

Queer States brings together artists, writers and thinkers exploring queerness as a state of being, a way of relating to the world, and a means of imagining otherwise.

Taking Samuel Clowes Huneke's A Queer Theory of the State as one point of departure, the anthology considers what it means to inhabit queerness not simply as identity, but as structure, refusal, experiment and proposal.

Queer States brings together artists, writers and thinkers exploring queerness as a state of being, a way of relating to the world, and a means of imagining otherwise.

Moving between art and writing, fiction and critical thought, the contributions explore memory, desire, community and the worlds we make for ourselves. From intimate gestures to vast imaginaries, they approach queerness through experiences, questions and possibilities that resist easy definition.

Rather than arriving at a single position, Queer States leaves room for uncertainty, contradiction, experimentation and play.

Featuring contributions from Steve Finbow, Madison Young, Misha Honcharenko and Brian Curtin, alongside an eclectic collection of contemporary artists, writers and filmmakers.
