Mapping / Invocation

A New Collection by Jared Pappas-Kelley, Published by Pup and Tiger Press

Pup and Tiger Press is proud to announce the release of Mapping / Invocation, a new body of work by artist and writer Jared Pappas-Kelley. Spanning a full-colour hardback artist’s book of images and writings, a suite of museum-quality prints and videos, and a capsule series of limited-edition T-shirts, the collection explores queer ritual, conceptual drawing, and the messy beauty of not knowing what you’re calling in—just that you’re calling.

At its core, Mapping / Invocation is about attunement. Part field guide, part invocation mixtape, the series blends two interwoven bodies of work: Mapping Financial Abundance, a 52-day durational drawing practice tracing the felt experience of sufficiency and care; and Invocation Mix Tape: Liner Notes, a set of looping video compositions and poetic fragments conjured from queer memory, sound, and soft rebellion across a backdrop of queer punk house parties and liner notes.

As Pappas-Kelley puts it,

“These works aren’t instructions or declarations. They’re a kind of coded rehearsal, something you keep doing until the shape of what you’re trying to become begins to show up. Mapping / Invocation is about staying in that uncertain space long enough for it to mean something, even if you don’t know what that is yet.”

Rather than depicting outcomes, these works sketch desire, repetition, and quiet ritual. Drawing becomes rehearsal. Sound becomes spellwork. The result is a deeply personal and quietly charged collection, one that offers not answers, but resonance.

The hardback artist’s book features 108 full-colour pages printed on smooth, FSC-certified silk stock, combining high-resolution documentation with lyrical texts and installation stills. Designed in Canterbury and published by Pup and Tiger Press, it is equal parts artist’s book and coded field manual.

Alongside the book, Pup and Tiger Press is releasing a limited print series—seven A3 giclée prints, each colourway limited to an edition of 10, with hand-signed and numbered certificates of authenticity—and a set of five screen-printed T-shirts, limited to 25 per design, featuring artwork from the Invocation video pieces.

Mapping / Invocation isn’t about resolution. It’s a gesture, a vibration, a softly coded language for becoming otherwise.

All works within the collection are available to preorder from 19th June until 3rd July 2025. Mapping / Invocation Hardback Artist’s Book is strictly limited to a run of 200, A3 framed prints with accompanying hand-signed-and-numbered certificates of authenticity are limited to 10 per colourway, and collectable t-shirts are limited to 25 per design.

About the Artist

Jared Pappas-Kelley is an artist, writer, and researcher whose work spans video, sculpture, publication, and conceptual drawing. His practice engages queer theory, formal experimentation, and the fragile residue of material and memory. His books include Solvent Form: Art and Destruction, To Build a House that Never Ceased: Writings, Interviews, and Letters on Art, and the conceptual novel Stalking America, which draws from fragments, overheard conversations, and a haunted sense of place.
